Zheng Shuang Appears with a Changed Look
Zheng Shuang, the famous Chinese actress, recently appeared on social media with tearful eyes and a tired expression on her 33rd birthday. Although she has been banned from the entertainment industry since the scandals involving surrogacy and tax evasion in 2021, she occasionally uses a secondary account to post on social media for special occasions.
On August 22, Zheng Shuang posted a selfie with red, teary eyes and a haggard face, along with the message: “Silent times, peaceful years. Happy birthday.” Many fans left comments expressing concern for her well-being and sending birthday wishes, reflecting their worry about her current state.
Despite opening a new Weibo account on September 7, 2023, under the name Xiao Zheng, she frequently emphasizes that she will take responsibility for her mistakes and hopes “time will reveal the truth.” However, her posting frequency has significantly decreased, with her last update on June 7, where she encouraged students preparing for college entrance exams. Currently, her account has only 160,000 followers.
Zheng Shuang was previously sued by the producers of the film “The Jade Lover” for causing significant financial losses, resulting in the film’s inability to air. After investigating her assets, the court determined she was unable to repay her debts. Although there were rumors that she had 230 million RMB (32 million USD) in the U.S. but was avoiding debt in China, Zheng Shuang denied these claims and stated she was living on her parents’ pension and did not have a stable job.
In early 2024, the producer of the film “Secret Love” sought Zheng Shuang in the U.S. to demand repayment. She responded through her secondary account, denying the debt avoidance allegations and stating she was still fulfilling court requirements, hoping to regain custody of her child and resolve her debts.
Born in 1991, Zheng Shuang was a top star in the Chinese entertainment industry but fell from grace following penalties for tax evasion and surrogacy. She was required to pay 299 million RMB (46.1 million USD) and cover various debts due to the impact on the airing of several productions. Currently, Zheng Shuang lives in the U.S. and occasionally updates her personal life on social media, acknowledging the difficulties and frugality she faces following the 2021 scandal.
