Wu Jinyan Faces Unequal Treatment Compared to Bai Lu
Despite being under the same management company, Wu Jinyan is treated very differently from Bai Lu. Both actresses are considered protégéss of director Yu Zheng, but fans are increasingly frustrated by the disparity in how the company treats them.
Recently, Wu Jinyan took the initiative to host a livestream to celebrate her birthday with fans. The actress wore a platinum blonde wig, makeup, and a fairy-themed outfit as she enthusiastically interacted with fans, playing games and chatting. However, during the livestream, fans could overhear her conversation with staff members. When Wu Jinyan asked why the room was so hot, her assistant explained that the air conditioning had been turned off because the company had closed for the day.
Fans suggested that Wu Jinyan remove her wig to stay cool, but she insisted on keeping her appearance intact to maintain the desired image. She endured the heat and continued the livestream for several hours without complaint.
Following this incident, Wu Jinyan’s fans flooded Yu Zheng’s personal Weibo page, demanding fair treatment for their idol. However, the director responded that he was unaware of the situation and had even forgotten about her birthday.
It is evident that, despite being a prominent actress nurtured by Yu Zheng,Wu Jinyan is treated very differently from Bai Lu. Each year, the director consistently posts birthday wishes for Bai Lu on his personal Weibo. Currently, Bai Lu is the company’s top actress, having starred in numerous popular dramas like One and Only, Forever and Ever, and The Long Ballad. In the first half of 2024 alone, she completed two new historical dramas, The Starry Love and Lin Jiangxian, bringing substantial profits to the company. It’s no surprise that the 90s-born beauty receives preferential treatment.
As for Wu Jinyan, she rose to fame with the 2018 hit drama Story of Yanxi Palace, a classic in Chinese palace dramas. However, it wasn’t until earlier this year, with the release of Love in a Fallen City, that she regained attention for her stable acting skills and strong on-screen chemistry with co-star Wang Jing Wei.
