UFC 309, set to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, has added two intriguing welterweight bouts to its already impressive lineup. Randy Brown will face Carlos Prates, while Jim Miller will battle Damon Jackson.
Brown vs. Prates Exciting Matchups Announced
Two lengthy welterweight strikers with 78-inch reaches have agreed to fight each other at UFC 309 this fall as Randy Brown and Carlos Prates will face off in a three-round bout Nov. 16, while Jim Miller meets Damon Jackson at lightweight.
Brown had confirmed it on his Instagram account. Randy Brown, a New York native, (19-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) returns home for this matchup, aiming to extend his three-fight winning streak. Brown most recently competed in June when he extended his winning streak to three when he defeated Elizeu Zaleski Dos Santos by unanimous decision at UFC 302 in June.
Carlos Prates (20-6), a rising star from Brazil, makes his fourth Octagon appearance for the year and is also riding high on a 10-fight win streak. Brazil’s 31-year-old former Muay Thai fighter is fresh off the win by knockout in the second round against Li Jingliang in August.
Miller vs. Jackson
41-year-old Jim Miller (37-18, 1 NC), Jim Miller, a UFC veteran, seeks to bounce back from a recent loss. The native of Sparta Township, New Jersey dropped a unanimous decision against Bobby Green in April, which snapped his two-fight winning streak. Damon Jackson (27-7-1, 1 NC), another experienced fighter, will also be looking to return to winning ways after a defeat.
The Main Event and Co-Main Event
The highly anticipated main event of UFC 309 features Jon Jones of Rochester, NY defending his first heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic of Euclid, Ohio, the former title-holder. The co-main event will be a rematch between former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira of Brazil and Michael Chandler of High Ridge, Missouri.
