A Rare Breed with a Fascinating History
The Lykoi cat is an exceptionally rare breed, first developed in 2011 in Tennessee, USA. Each Lykoi typically sells for around $2,000, reflecting its rarity and the specialized breeding required. This breed originated from a genetic mutation in domestic short-haired cats, which results in a lack of fur around the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears, giving them their signature “werewolf” appearance. The remaining fur on their bodies is sparse and wolf-like.
