North Korea Will Welcome International Tourists Back Later This Year: A Chance to Explore the Mysterious Land
The latest information shows that North Korea, a country famous for its mystery and isolation, will officially open its doors to international tourists by the end of 2024. After nearly 5 years of closing its borders due to the Covid-19 pandemic, travel companies affiliated with North Korea are ready to welcome visitors again. Specifically, Koryo Tours from Beijing and KTG Tours from Shenyang announced on their websites that tours will start from December this year. This is a rare opportunity to explore this mysterious country after a long period of blockade, opening a new chapter for the North Korean tourism industry.
According to the announcement from Koryo Tours, tourists will have the opportunity to visit the city of Samjiyon, famous as the birthplace of the late leader Kim Jong Il. It is understood that specific and detailed itineraries will be finalized in the coming time. KTG Tours also shared on Facebook that the exact dates for the tours will be confirmed soon, and that Pyongyang and other locations are likely to open as well.
Samjiyon, located near Mount Paektu – an important and sacred volcano for North Koreans, was a favorite destination for Chinese tourists before the outbreak. During the pandemic, the North Korean border was almost completely sealed, with only a few small tour groups from Russia allowed to enter this year. About 100 Russian tourists were welcomed earlier this year by Air Koryo, the North Korean airline.
North Korea’s reopening not only marks the end of a long blockade, but also opens up a unique opportunity for those eager to explore one of the world’s least-known countries. This is an opportunity for brave explorers to touch the hidden historical and cultural mysteries, and delve deeper into a mysterious civilization with untold stories. The upcoming journeys will bring many new travel experiences and learn more about the mysteries of this country’s culture.
