The Love Story of a Thai Heartthrob and a Star 16 Years His Senior
Nonkul Chanon, the leading man from “Bad Genius,” has captured hearts with his romance with Aff Taksaorn, a celebrated actress 16 years his senior, who has previously been divorced and is a single mother.
In late July, Nonkul shared his joy on social media, celebrating his first appearance as a brand ambassador alongside his girlfriend, Aff Taksaorn. The couple displayed affectionate gestures, even feeding each other, with their photos quickly making headlines across Thai entertainment news outlets and sparking widespread discussion on social media.
From the point of view Sanook, Nonkul Chanon and Aff Taksaorn are currently one of the most talked-about “reel-to-real” couples in the Thai entertainment industry. Their romance blossomed on the set of “Find Yourself,” the Thai remake of the Korean drama “Something in the Rain,” scheduled to air in December 2023. The storyline follows a successful woman in her 30s who finds herself conflicted by the earnest affections of her best friend’s younger brother.
Thairath reported that throughout filming, Nonkul was deeply impressed by Aff’s kindness and her willingness to assist everyone on set. She also offered him valuable acting guidance. After the movie wrapped, the pair frequently appeared together in fashion shoots and promotional events, often sparking dating rumors. Initially, they kept their relationship under wraps, but a few months later, Nonkul confessed that he had fallen for Aff and pursued her actively.
From late 2023 to early 2024, the couple faced public backlash, primarily due to their significant age difference. Aff had previously been married to the heir of a major hotel and resort chain in Thailand but divorced after her husband’s infidelity came to light. She is currently raising her nearly 10-year-old daughter on her own.
Despite the criticism, Nonkul and Aff have remained unfazed by the age gap, focusing instead on the sincerity of their relationship, as reported by GMM.
In early June, Aff shared a photo on social media of her and her daughter bringing a birthday cake to surprise Nonkul on his 28th birthday, during a fan meeting in Bangkok. The actor expressed his surprise and deep emotion at the gesture.
Their families have not opposed their relationship. Nonkul surprised Aff with flowers, gifts, and a cake on their first Valentine’s Day together in February. Aff’s daughter, Peemai, is often seen accompanying them at events and outings.
Aff Taksaorn has also introduced Nonkul to her close friends. From the standpoint of Thairath, some of them have even joked about offering rewards if the couple marries soon. However, Nonkul has stated that material things are not a priority for them; they plan to marry for love, possibly within the next two to three years.
Nonkul Chanon, 28, rose to fame with his lead role in “Bad Genius,” Thailand’s highest-grossing film of 2017. He has since made his mark in films such as “Back to the Future,” “The Great Winds,” “Youth Conquest,” “Love’s Aroma,” “Office Tricks,” and most recently, “Operation Undead.”
Aff Taksaorn, 44, is a renowned actress and television host, known for her roles in “The Royal Romance,” “The Call of Love,” “Rebirth Close to You,” and “Hatred.”
