Taylor Swift Causes Kim Kardashian to Lose Over 100,000 Followers
Kim Kardashian has lost approximately 100,000 followers on Instagram after Taylor Swift released a song believed to be a “diss track” aimed at her.
Kim Kardashian’s Instagram account had about 364.3 million followers last month, but that number has now decreased to 363 million. The site reports that Taylor Swift’s new song titled thanK you aIMee is the main reason for this drop.
Taylor Swift released her album The Tortured Poets Department on April 19, featuring a total of 31 tracks. Prior to this, the singer announced that the album would only contain 16 songs, but on the release day, she surprised fans by introducing an additional 15 songs. thanK you aIMee belongs to the latter group and centers around a character who is a school bully.
Fans speculated that the uppercase letters in the song title allude to Kim Kardashian, suggesting that the track is Taylor Swift’s response to Kim regarding a scandal from eight years ago. Following the song’s release, many people began commenting “thanK you aIMee” on Kim Kardashian’s personal page.
In 2016, Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West released the song Famous, which includes the line: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? Because I made that b**** famous.” At the time, Kim Kardashian posted a video recording of a 25-minute conversation between Kanye and Taylor, in which Taylor happily listens to the lyric and remarks that it is not offensive.
According to Taylor, the recording was edited and staged by Kim, portraying her as a liar who caused the entertainment industry to turn against her. Kim’s fans even used snake emojis to describe Taylor, labeling her a “fraud.” In 2017, Taylor returned with the album Reputation, featuring snake imagery in its artwork.
In 2019, Kim stated that she had moved past the scandal and no longer hated Taylor during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has not forgotten the past, expressing to Time in 2023: “That situation made me feel more depressed than I ever had before. I was essentially isolating myself from everyone because I felt I couldn’t trust anyone. I went through a terrible and very hard time.”
The Swifties community believes that besides thanK you aIMee, Taylor Swift continues to hint at her conflict with Kim Kardashian in the song Cassandra from her new album. Fans also speculate that the singer’s ex-boyfriends, including Joe Alwyn, Matty Healy, and John Mayer, are the main subjects of some of the recently released songs.
