Supermodel Naomi Campbell: ‘Children Are a Blessing’
Naomi Campbell, the 54-year-old supermodel known as the “Black Panther,” is embracing motherhood with joy and often takes her children on trips around the world during her work travels.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar on August 14, Naomi Campbell discussed her legendary modeling career and becoming a mother in her 50s. She shared, “Motherhood is the greatest joy. My blessing is being the mother of two innocent, beautiful children. I learn so much every day with them. They are such good kids.”
When asked if her frequent travels affect her parenting, Campbell mentioned that she usually brings her children along, seeing it as an opportunity for family adventures. “I wouldn’t take my children from New York to London just because I have two days of photoshoots there. That would be unreasonable, but the kids really enjoy traveling,” she said.
The supermodel welcomed her children through surrogacy, having a girl and a boy in 2021 and 2023, respectively. She has not revealed their names or specific birth dates. Campbell previously shared photos of her children on social media, keeping their faces hidden, but has since removed them. She did feature her daughter on the cover of Vogue UK in February 2022, showing only her back.
According to The Times, Campbell has no plans to find a father figure for her children and is content with her role as a single mother. “The kids take up 110% of my priority. I must be present for their first day at school,” she said.
Naomi Campbell was born in 1970 in England, with Jamaican and Chinese heritage. She began her career at 15 as a student at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. To date, she has graced over 500 magazine covers and was the first Black model to appear on the covers of Vogue UK, France, Russia, and Times.
Campbell has been engaged to musician and U2 guitarist Adam Clayton and businessman Flavio Briatore. Her most recent relationship was with rapper Skepta, who is 13 years younger than her. The couple had a secret romance in 2018 but split after five months.
Naomi Campbell is also the first model to have an exhibition celebrating her impact on the fashion industry. Naomi: In Fashion will run from June 22, 2024, to April 6, 2025, at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The exhibition will showcase over 100 outfits and numerous designer accessories she has worn on runways and magazine covers over the past 40 years.
