Skiing from an altitude of more than 5,000 meters: Joshua Bregmen’s record descent

Joshua Bregmen, a 34-year-old adventurer, set a new world record by skiing from a staggering 5,716 meters, descending from a cliff to the ground below. This incredible achievement marks the highest altitude ever for a ski run.

To prepare for this record-breaking challenge, Joshua and his team spent two weeks trekking to the remote location, camping at altitude where oxygen is scarce, and meticulously cleaning and smoothing the ski slopes. meticulous.

Their goal is not only to break the record but also to raise money for charity and raise awareness about human trafficking in Nepal, where thousands of children are trafficked each year.

The attempt almost failed when the group arrived at the first potential jump site and realized it was “just a big rocky slope”. Joshua recalls sitting on the rock, wondering if they should give up the effort and try again the next season.

However, the doubt did not last long. The team soon discovered the “perfect slope” and began preparing the ski run by clearing large rocks and adding snow where needed.

It is worth noting that Joshua’s record attempt was done without any sponsorship. He borrowed technical equipment from friends, used old skateboards and wore cheap but not very warm clothes. Joshua shared: “You don’t need to be too flashy, you just need perseverance, determination and a good team.”

This story of courage and resilience proves that with the right mindset, even the toughest challenges can be overcome.
