Porsche launched a special 50th anniversary edition to pay tribute to the original 911 Turbo
50 years ago, the first production Porsche 911 Turbo was launched, marking the beginning of a legendary automotive legacy. To commemorate this iconic model, the German automaker has unveiled a special 50th Anniversary Edition of the 911 Turbo. This exclusive edition was introduced at this year’s Monterey Car Week, with global production limited to just 1,974 units, reflecting the year the model was originally launched.
Based on the current 911 Turbo S, the 50th Anniversary Edition takes inspiration from the first prototypes of the 911 Turbo. While the Carrera and GTS versions of the 911 have been updated to the 992.2 generation, this special edition retains the 992.1 platform, preserving the classic essence of the original design.
The 50th Anniversary model features a unique “Turbonite” color, a distinct taupe gray exclusive to the Turbo model, complemented by anthracite gray accents. The rear engine cover is adorned with a turbo badge and “1974-2024” graphics, and the car boasts a “Turbo 50” emblem.
Inside, the car has a classic feel with more striping and historic Porsche emblems on the hood and steering wheel, adding a touch of nostalgia to the car’s luxurious interior.
Powering this limited edition model is a 3.7-liter twin-turbo boxer engine, producing an impressive 641 horsepower. Enhancing performance, the special edition is equipped with a sports exhaust system with black tailpipes and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for a more dynamic driving experience. Porsche also offers a limited edition chronograph with a black dial and Turbonite accents, in keeping with the car’s theme of exclusivity.
Production of this special edition is limited to 1,974 units, making it a rare collector’s item for Porsche enthusiasts. Each car has a starting price of 263,000 USD.
