As accusations mount against Sean “Diddy” Combs, his mother, Janice Combs, has publicly defended her son, calling for the world to give him a fair chance to tell his story. In a statement released through her attorney, Natalie G. Figgers, Janice expressed her heartbreak at seeing her son vilified without the opportunity to prove his innocence.
Janice Combs stated, “It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a story woven from lies. He deserves his day in court to share his side and prove his innocence.”
The Growing Legal Battle
This statement comes in the wake of growing legal challenges for the music mogul, who is now facing lawsuits from 120 accusers. Attorney Tony Buzbee recently announced that his clients, including men and women, have accused Diddy of sexual assault, with some cases dating back to 1991. Many of the alleged victims claim they were drugged and raped at events hosted by Diddy.
In addition to these new allegations, Diddy settled a lawsuit in 2023 from his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who accused him of rape. Although Diddy initially denied the accusations, a video surfaced in May showing him assaulting Cassie in a hotel room. Shortly after the video came to light, the rapper issued a public apology, saying he was “truly sorry” for his actions.
Diddy’s Mother’s Defense
In her statement, Janice admitted that her son lied about his assault on Cassie but explained that fear and confusion can sometimes make it difficult to tell the truth. “Sometimes, the truth and the lie become so intertwined that admitting part of the story becomes scary, especially when the truth is outside the norm or too complex to believe.”
She explained that Diddy’s legal team chose to settle the lawsuit with Cassie rather than fighting it in court, which she believes has led to the current accusations being used against him unfairly. “The federal government is using this decision against Combs, interpreting it as a guilty plea,” Janice added.
While acknowledging her son’s mistakes, Janice strongly denies that Diddy is guilty of the “heinous charges and serious crimes” he now faces. She compared his situation to those of individuals who are wrongfully convicted, arguing that society’s quick judgment is often based on preconceived notions rather than facts.
Public Perception and Media Scrutiny
Janice also expressed her deep hurt over the way her son has been treated in the media, lamenting the “jokes” and “false accusations” directed at him. “It was painful to see the world turn against my son so quickly without hearing his side of the story,” she said. According to Janice, many of the accusations are motivated by financial gain, with individuals seeing the settlement of the Cassie lawsuit as an opportunity for a quick payday.
“The lies about him are motivated by those who seek financial gain, not justice. These individuals saw how quickly my son’s attorney settled his lawsuit with his ex-girlfriend, so they believed they could get a quick payday by framing my son,” she added.
Janice concluded by stating that the ongoing legal battle has taken a heavy toll on their family. “The worst part of this ordeal is watching my beloved son stripped of his dignity, not because of what he did, but because of what people choose to believe about him.”
Legal Proceedings
Diddy was arrested in mid-September following a grand jury indictment on charges related to sex trafficking and extortion. He has been denied bail due to concerns that he may flee the country.
As the case continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these accusations will impact both Diddy’s personal and professional life. His mother, along with his legal team, is prepared to fight back against what they describe as a campaign of lies and misunderstandings aimed at ruining his career and reputation.
