Nissan Patrol has a new super product after 14 years of operation
After 14 years of operation, Nissan Patrol, one of Japan’s most iconic large SUV models, has officially entered a completely new sixth generation. With a modern yet equally powerful design, more powerful powertrain, and superior interior upgrades, this latest version of the Patrol will compete fiercely with rivals such as the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
A bold redesign with off-road dominance launched in the Middle East, where off-road SUVs like the Nissan Patrol are popular, the new generation Patrol retains its rugged nature while staying ahead of trends Modern design. The massive 5.6L V8 is gone, replaced by a smaller but more efficient 3.5L twin-turbo V6 borrowed from Nissan’s legendary GT-R sports car. The new engine delivers an impressive 425 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, exceeding the output of the previous V8 engine by 25 horsepower and 140 Nm. The SUV is now equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission, replacing the outdated 7-speed gearbox, ensuring smoother gear shifts and improved performance. In addition to the high-performance V6 engine, Nissan has introduced an optional 3.8L V6 engine to select markets, producing 316 horsepower and 386 Nm of torque, providing a balanced combination of power and fuel efficiency.
For the US market, the Patrol (branded as Armada) will include an even more powerful variant, although it’s unclear whether this will be offered globally. Improved efficiency without sacrificing power The switch from a V8 to a twin-turbo V6 delivers significant fuel economy. The new Nissan Patrol is 24% more fuel efficient than its predecessor, with an average consumption of between 9.9 and 10.3 liters/100 km, making it a smarter choice for those looking for both performance and practicality.
This efficiency is an important factor for Nissan as it aims to appeal to more environmentally conscious consumers without compromising the Patrol’s renowned off-road capabilities. Luxurious and modern exterior While the new Patrol has a more modern aesthetic, it still doesn’t stray far from the iconic boxy masculine shape that off-road enthusiasts love. The front of the car now has C-shaped LED headlights and wider daytime running lights, giving it a more aggressive and modern look. The V-Motion grille, featured in Nissan’s latest designs, is also more prominent, enhancing the vehicle’s on-road appearance. The side has tall windows and large steps, giving it a sturdy yet sophisticated feel.
Meanwhile, the SUV’s rear end features C-shaped taillights, which reflect the front lights, along with a large rear diffuser and rugged front bumper, reinforcing the vehicle’s off-road capabilities. Increased dimensions and spacious interior Nissan has slightly increased the size of the Patrol to provide more interior space. The new model is 5,205 mm long, 2,030 mm wide and 1,955 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm. This extended wheelbase means the cabin is 30% more spacious than the previous generation, providing ample space for passengers as well as cargo. The interior of the sixth generation Patrol is no less luxurious, setting it apart from other Nissan models. The dashboard features a large 28.6-inch display, combining a 14.3-inch touchscreen with a digital instrument cluster.
Nissan has integrated Google’s ecosystem into its infotainment system, offering Google Maps, Google Assistant and the Google Play Store. Additionally, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto both come standard, ensuring a seamless user experience. The center console also has a button-operated gear selector, along with steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles for those who prefer manual control. Advanced technology and amenities Nissan has equipped the new Patrol with a range of advanced comfort and convenience features. The cabin is trimmed in soft leather and amenities include a 7-inch head-up display (HUD), multi-zone climate control, 64-color interior ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats and massage with two 12.3 inch entertainment screens, screen for rear passengers. The car is also equipped with a 12-speaker Klipsch sound system, ensuring premium sound quality.
Perhaps the most innovative feature is the Patrol’s new biometric cooling system. This system uses sensors to monitor the passenger’s body temperature and adjust climate settings accordingly, ensuring optimal comfort. Nissan claims the system can cool the cabin 50 percent faster than a conventional system, a feature that will likely be appreciated in the scorching heat of the Middle East.
Built for off-road adventure
Staying true to its off-road heritage, the Nissan Patrol is equipped with a host of features designed for rough terrain. The SUV includes a “virtual hood” system, which uses an underbody camera to show terrain that would otherwise be obscured by the hood. The vehicle also offers six driving modes, including three dedicated to off-road conditions. The advanced suspension system can raise the Patrol up 70 mm or lower it 140 mm, allowing the vehicle to overcome many terrains with ease. Additionally, the Patrol boasts a locking rear differential and 700mm wading capability, making it a formidable off-road companion.
The new Nissan Patrol is expected to start at $65,000 in the Middle East. Production is expected to begin within the next 18 months and the vehicle is expected to maintain its dominant position in the region, where it will continue to compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser for the lead topography.
The sixth-generation Nissan Patrol offers a powerful combination of luxury, advanced technology and legendary off-road capability, positioning it as a serious contender in the full-size SUV market.
