Mike Tyson Promises to “Handle” Jake Paul Ahead of Anticipated Showdown
Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is gearing up for a long-awaited battle next month, and he has made a firm declaration that he will “handle” Jake Paul when they meet in the ring. In his prime, “Iron Mike” was a notorious knockout artist, not only known for his brutal punching power but also for his intimidating presence that often left opponents mentally defeated before the fight even began.
In a pre-fight interview, featherweight star Bruce Carrington suggested that Tyson’s mere presence could instill fear in Paul. “Just the aura around him can make you lose before you even step into the ring,” Carrington explained. “Tyson often says he’s scared before a fight, but don’t let that fool you. Fighters who fight from fear can be the most dangerous warriors. Their hearts race, they’re highly focused, and sometimes, that makes them the toughest opponents to face.”
The former heavyweight champion is clearly looking to provoke Paul ahead of their showdown. With just two weeks until the fight, Tyson made headlines by declaring through the media that he would “handle” his upcoming opponent. In a recent interview, the 58-year-old fighter stated, “He’s going to be running around, and I have to catch him and deal with him.” He emphasized, “No, I’m not worried about him; he’s stepping into my world. If my mom stepped into the ring, she would have a problem with me. Anyone who steps into that ring has a problem with me. Don’t come into the ring if you don’t want trouble.”
Not only is Tyson stirring the pot, but he also offered some praise for Paul during the same interview. When asked about Paul, he referred to him as “a good young fighter,” but noted, “He’s only had ten fights, which is considered amateur in our sport.”
Both Tyson and Paul are set to face off on July 20, but the professional bout was postponed after Tyson faced health issues due to a stomach ulcer while boarding a flight in May. Fans expressed concern for his health after the rescheduling, but Tyson has recently reassured everyone that he is fit to return by November 15.
This boxing legend insists he is training hard, viewing this matchup as one of the most important fights of his storied career. In a recent conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, Tyson revealed that he is dedicating six hours a day to training. “I train very hard; I start at 11 AM and might leave the gym at 5 PM,” he said. Kimmel appeared astonished by this commitment and asked, “Six hours straight, or do you take a lunch break?” Tyson admitted he takes a brief break, prompting Kimmel to exclaim, “Oh no!”
As the fight date approaches, all eyes will be on Tyson and Paul as they prepare for what promises to be an electrifying showdown.
