Madonna has taken to social media to express her frustration with Hollywood producers who tried to scale down her highly anticipated biopic. In a passionate Instagram post, the Pop icon shared her disappointment, revealing that after days of discussions with producers and agents in Los Angeles, they suggested she should “think smaller” and reduce the scope of the film.
“I was told I should shrink my vision and think smaller,” Madonna wrote in a post on Monday. She emphasized that the film has been her dream project for the last four years, making the suggestion to limit its scale particularly upsetting.
The 66-year-old star also reflected on her unconventional life, acknowledging that she would need to approach her biopic in an unconventional way. “I realize that everything in my life is going to be challenged. There’s no easy ride for me,” she said, adding that despite the obstacles, she felt grateful as they forced her to think outside the box.
Madonna thanked her close friends, calling them the “fuel I need to keep going,” and discussed her plans for the biopic project. “We all agreed that we need to be braver,” she added. “Art = Survival. We cannot shrink and make ourselves smaller.” She concluded by saying, “If you really want something in life, the universe will help you achieve it.”
In her post, Madonna also posed a question to her followers, asking whether she should turn her biographical story into a miniseries or a feature film. “What do you think? Think carefully before answering!” she wrote.
Madonna first announced her plans to direct her biopic in September 2020, with Julia Garner set to star as the singer. However, the project was postponed when Madonna shifted her focus to her “Celebration” tour and later faced health issues, further delaying the film’s production.
As one of the most iconic figures in the global music industry, Madonna is known for pushing boundaries and defying the norm. Her biopic has become one of the most eagerly awaited films, with fans anticipating her unique and bold approach to telling her story.
