All funds raised from this event will be donated to Lao Friends Children’s Hospital (LFHC), the only free children’s hospital in northern Laos, providing essential health care services. for 40,000 children annually. Laos has the highest under-five mortality rate in Southeast Asia, with 1 in 15 children under 5 years old. Through LFHC’s efforts and the support of the international community, Lao children can receive time-responsive medical treatment, gain strength, and pursue their dreams.
LFHC is a comprehensive hospital with the only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Neonatal Unit in northern Laos. It also provides medical education and pediatric training to healthcare professionals, district hospitals and medical centers nationwide. The hospital offers specialized pediatric clinics, developmental clinics, pediatric life therapies and leading programs in malnutrition, breast milk banking and highly advanced procedures such as cardiac surgery clinics. , reconstruction and orthopedics—services that are difficult to access in Laos.
With distances of 7km, 14km and 21km, this year’s marathon promises to bring excitement to both experienced runners and beginners. Experiencers will have the opportunity to experience the beauty of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in a peaceful atmosphere with cool weather at the end of the rainy season. The course will take athletes through the scenic streets of Luang Prabang, witness the traditional morning alms ceremony and run alongside the mighty Mekong River.
In 2023, the race attracted nearly 3,000 participants from 33 countries. This year, organizers are calling on everyone to mark a decade of making a difference and be a part of this special event that empowers and brings healthier lives to impoverished children.
