Love Transforms: Lady Gaga’s Collaboration with Fiancé Michael Polansky
Lady Gaga recently revealed that her life has undergone a profound transformation since meeting her fiancé, Michael Polansky. The Grammy-winning artist shared her insights during the Los Angeles premiere of her upcoming film, Joker: Folie à Deux.
Gaga’s collaborative effort with Polansky on her latest studio album, Harlequin, which serves as a companion piece to the film, has been a deeply personal journey for the couple. Polansky, who holds the title of co-executive producer on the project, has contributed significantly to the musical direction of the album.
“It was the first time we fully immersed ourselves in a creative project together,” Gaga shared with reporters, emphasizing the shared passion that fueled their collaboration. “We were both incredibly enthusiastic and ready to embrace this unique artistic experience.”
Gaga’s affection for Polansky is evident in her words. “I simply adore my fiancé,” she confessed. “He is my best friend, my partner, and I truly believe that when you are surrounded by your best friend, everything changes.”
The couple, who were first linked romantically in 2020, officially announced their relationship on Instagram during the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami. Their engagement was revealed in July 2024, with Gaga sharing the news with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Polansky’s creative influence extends beyond his role as co-executive producer. He is credited as a co-writer on several songs featured on Harlequin, including “Good Morning,” “Get Happy,” “Oh, When the Saints,” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now.” These classic standards and show tunes have been given a fresh, contemporary twist through their collaborative efforts.
Harlequin features a collection of covers with the exception of two original tracks, “Happy Mistake” and “Folie à Deux.”
In an interview with Vogue magazine, Gaga disclosed that her upcoming seventh album, which she refers to as “LG 6.5,” was inspired by Polansky. “Michael encouraged me to create a new pop record,” she revealed. “He said, ‘Babe, I love you. You need to make pop music.’“
The couple made their official red carpet debut together at the Venice Film Festival, followed by appearances at the London premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux.
Just days before the London premiere, Gaga expressed her desire to build a family with Polansky in the near future. “I am incredibly happy to be in love and I am truly excited about the prospect of starting a family,” she shared. “That’s definitely my top priority.”
During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Gaga shared a humorous anecdote about Polansky’s proposal, confessing that she initially thought it was a joke. “He proposed on April Fool’s Day, and I honestly thought he was just kidding,” she revealed.
Lady Gaga’s journey with Michael Polansky is one of love, creativity, and shared dreams. Their collaboration on Harlequin and their shared vision for the future showcase how love can truly transform lives and inspire incredible art.
