LeBron and Bronny James made history at the Los Angeles Lakers’ media day event on September 30th, becoming the first father-son duo to play for the same NBA team. The pair wore matching Lakers gold uniforms and posed for countless photos and playful interviews.
LeBron Expresses Excitement
When asked how it felt to be on the same team as his son Bronny, LeBron expressed immense joy at the opportunity to work and grow with his son every day, emphasizing their mutual support and motivation. “It’s pure joy, to be honest, to be able to come to work every day, put in the hard work with your son every day and be able to see him continue to grow. We push each other. He pushes me, I push him. We push our teammates. Just a very joyous moment, not only for myself, but for our family.”
While Bronny is expected to see limited playing time in his rookie season, LeBron remains excited for the possibility of sharing the court with his son. “If we get a couple of opportunities on the floor throughout the course of the season, obviously that’s going to be amazing… It will be awesome. We’ll wait for that moment when it happens, and then go from there.” The Lakers’ head coach, JJ Redick, has stated his intention to collaborate with the James family to schedule a historic father-son debut early in the regular season.

Redick Plans Historic Father-Son Debut
Although Bronny may spend a significant portion of the season honing his skills with the South Bay Lakers in the G League, the anticipation for the moment when he and LeBron play their first NBA game together is palpable. The prospect of witnessing this historic event is undoubtedly thrilling for fans of both the Lakers and the James family.
