Laura Prepon and Ben Foster are getting a divorce after over six years of marriage. According to court documents filed on Tuesday, Foster, 44, initiated the divorce proceedings in Nashville, where he and Prepon also 44, have been living with their two children for the past two years.

The actor cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split and listed the separation date as September 9, the same day he filed for divorce. He also requested that the court “equitably divide the parties’ assets and debts” according to the terms of the prenuptial agreement he and Prepon signed when they married in New York City in May 2018.
Foster noted that he and Prepon “anticipate signing a separation agreement and a parenting plan” regarding the custody of their 7-year-old daughter Ella and their 4-year-old son, whose name starts with the letter “A,” as per the court records.
Relationship History
The couple met through Prepon’s That ’70s Show co-star Danny Masterson, and they publicly revealed their relationship in the summer of 2016. Later that year, in October, they made their red carpet debut as a couple and also announced their engagement.
News of Prepon’s first pregnancy broke in January 2017, and she accidentally revealed in June that she and Foster were expecting a baby girl, due the following month. In June 2018, Prepon announced that she and Foster had gotten married. The following October, the former Scientologist revealed that they were planning to expand their family, and in February 2020, they welcomed a baby boy.
This divorce marks the end of a relationship that began publicly in 2016, and despite the split, both Prepon and Foster have maintained a focus on co-parenting their children moving forward.
