Kyle Amoroto Speaks Out After Match-Fixing Scandal
Kyle Amoroto has opened up about his involvement in a recent match-fixing and betting scandal. On his personal page, the 21-year-old rising star admitted to feeling guilty, sleepless, and hoping to be given a chance to turn his life around.
“Hello everyone. I am writing these words with deep regret. Recently, I became involved in a match-fixing scandal and I realize that my actions were wrong, not only violating professional ethics but also harming the trust and support of those who have always stood by me,” Kyle Amoroto wrote.
He continued: “I have been unable to sleep these past few days. I have taken time to reflect and consider everything. The mistakes I made have left me feeling deeply remorseful. My haste and greed led to this serious mistake.
I want to extend my sincerest apologies to all my fans and sponsors, especially to Chairman JR, Marvin, and all the Marboys members. I understand that your trust has been severely damaged and I am very sorry for that. I have recognized my mistakes and I am truly regretful.
This is a lesson I have learned and I do not want to repeat. I hope everyone will give me a chance to make amends. This is my passion and my lifelong work. I will do my best to correct my mistakes and regain everyone’s trust. I will train harder and dedicate myself fully to proving that I am not entirely at fault and that I deserve your support.
Once again, I apologize for what has happened and hope that everyone will give me a chance to make things right. I believe that with time and effort, I can restore the trust and affection of everyone.”
On August 5th, Kyle Amoroto was dismissed from the Marboys club due to involvement in match-fixing and betting. In a statement on the club’s official website, Chairman JR Velasco revealed details about how Kyle Amoroto made money by intentionally losing matches while playing for the Marboys billiards club, even asking another Marboys player to lose a game during practice.
Kyle Amoroto, once regarded as a promising young talent in Philippine billiards and having made it to the Top 9 in the UK Open 2023, has now not only been fired by the Marboys club but also had his sponsorship contracts terminated by CPBA, Turning Point, and Moori.
