Korean Actress Divorces Husband 18 Years Younger
South Korean actress Ham So Won, known for her role in Sex is Zero, has divorced her husband, who is 18 years younger than her, but they are still living together.
On August 16, MK reported that So Won and her Chinese husband, Jin Hua, started their divorce proceedings in December 2022. Despite this, they continue to live together in an apartment in Seoul and frequently livestream together. According to Ham So Won, they “cannot be separated” due to their shared daughter and are trying to stay close for her sake.
Ham So Won mentioned that, being the oldest in the household, she feels like the “captain” of Jin Hua and their daughter, shouldering all responsibilities. Her fiery temperament often clashes with Jin Hua’s desire to be pampered, leading to conflicts and arguments. They tried to keep their separation private, but have reached a point where they can no longer tolerate the situation. Ham So Won said, “I thought long and hard before deciding to publicly reveal our marital issues. I am sorry. However, if our daughter wishes it, I will consider reconciling with Jin Hua.”
Previously, on August 6, Jin Hua posted photos on his personal account showing bruises around his eyes and nose, accusing Ham So Won of physical abuse. He also wrote, “The past eight years have been very difficult, and I am truly exhausted,” but later deleted the photos and post.
Ham So Won and Jin Hua got married in 2018, despite objections from both families. On SBS, Ham So Won revealed that Jin Hua’s parents reacted strongly, with his father threatening to sever ties. However, as the couple remained steadfast, Jin Hua’s parents eventually accepted their union.
After their marriage, Jin Hua moved to South Korea, and the couple participated in various television shows. In 2021, they gained attention on the reality show Taste of Wife on TV Chosun. Some viewers discovered that the couple had deceived the audience. The actress claimed they were staying at Jin Hua’s parents’ villa in Guangzhou, China, but in reality, it was a rented house for filming to fake a wealthy background. A YouTube account also revealed that Jin Hua was not a “second-generation rich” as portrayed by the actress. Facing criticism, Ham So Won admitted to the deception and wrote on her social media, “I was wrong. I voluntarily left Taste of Wife. I am very sorry and ashamed.” The production company also took responsibility for not fully verifying the participants’ information, particularly regarding their assets and personal details.
At 48 years old, So Won entered the entertainment industry in 1997 after winning a beauty pageant. She has appeared in Sex is Zero and My Big Family. In recent years, she has primarily focused on livestreaming with Jin Hua and occasionally takes part in advertising shoots.
