“A fresh twist on romance, starring Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min, that promises both laughs and heartfelt moments”
In a delightful return to romantic comedy, the director-writer team behind “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” brings us “Love Next Door,” a new 16-part series featuring Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min in lead roles. This highly anticipated show, helmed by director Yoo Je-won and written by Shin Ha-eun, follows the journey of two childhood friends, Choi Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in) and Bae Seok-ryu (Jung So-min), as their lifelong friendship blossoms into something deeper.
The storyline revolves around Seok-ryu, who, after a setback in her once-thriving career in the U.S., returns to Korea to rebuild her life. Reuniting with Seung-hyo, a successful architect, she discovers that their bond is more than just friendship—it’s the foundation for a new romantic chapter.
Jung Hae-in, known for his emotionally intense roles in dramas like “Something in the Rain” and “One Spring Night,” steps into lighter territory with this series. Speaking at a press event in Seoul, he shared his excitement about the shift in tone. “My previous works were filled with deep emotions and serious moments. This time, the set was full of laughter. The comedic situations were so natural, I found myself laughing constantly, even off-camera,” Jung remarked with a smile.
His co-star, Jung So-min, expressed her admiration for the script, noting, “I was moved by the writer’s warmth and care for each character. I hope the audience feels the same comfort and healing that I did when I first read it.”
As the series prepares to make its debut, the director is hopeful about its reception, particularly in light of the recent success of tvN’s “Queen of Tears.” “We’re aiming for our drama to exceed 10 percent viewership,” he revealed, setting high expectations for the show.
“Love Next Door” premieres this weekend, airing at 9:20 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, promising to deliver a blend of humor, romance, and heartfelt moments.
