JoJo Siwa has proven once again that she knows how to make special moments unforgettable. The former Dance Moms star surprised her girlfriend, Dakayla Wilson, with an extravagant birthday celebration: a luxury trip to Hawaii costing a whopping $30,000.
A Blossoming Romance
In an interview on Wednesday, Siwa, 21, shared the exciting plans she had in store for Wilson’s 19th birthday, which fell on a Friday.
“We’re about to take her on the most epic birthday trip ever. We’re going to Hawaii. It’s going to be so much fun,” Siwa said.
Despite the high price tag, Siwa emphasized that “it’s not about the money.”
“It’s about the people, the time, what you do, and the experience,” she explained, highlighting her commitment to making the birthday celebration meaningful.
The couple officially announced their relationship in August and have since shared numerous moments of their growing bond. Siwa didn’t hold back in expressing how much Wilson means to her.
“She’s a very, very special girl,” Siwa said. “I’m so lucky to have her in my life.”
Wilson, a talented dancer, caught Siwa’s eye with her impressive performances and strong work ethic. On the other hand, Siwa admired Wilson’s emotional vulnerability and personal growth.
“Seeing how she’s opened up and matured over the past three months has been incredible,” Siwa said. “Maturity isn’t easy, but watching her embrace it has been inspiring.”
In a lighthearted moment, Siwa added, “And her lips, they’re so cute!”
Siwa and Wilson first crossed paths during Season 18 of So You Think You Can Dance?, where Wilson competed and Siwa served as a judge alongside Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Allison Holker.
“She was out there on the dance floor doing her thing, and I was sitting on the judge’s panel,” Siwa recalled fondly. “She did such an amazing job and ended up finishing second.”
The connection between them blossomed quickly, leading to the strong relationship they share today.
JoJo’s Love Life Through the Years
Although Siwa and Wilson have been dating for just a few months, the entertainer’s love life has been a topic of public interest for years.
Prior to dating Wilson, Siwa was linked to fellow So You Think You Can Dance? contestant Madison Rouge Alvarado, who placed third in the competition. In May, the two were spotted sharing a passionate kiss at LAX, sparking rumors about their relationship.
The airport farewell, which was described as emotional, happened just one week after the SYTYCD finale aired.
Before her relationships with Wilson and Alvarado, Siwa dated Kylie Prew and Avery Cyrus, both of whom she shared affectionate moments with publicly.
Siwa first came out as gay in January 2021, a milestone she has since embraced as part of her personal and professional journey.
