On June 1, the public defamation trial between Johnny and Amber ended after more than six weeks. The verdict was in favor of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, with Amber ordered to pay $15 million—$10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. However, because Virginia state law limits damages to $350,000, Johnny will receive $10.35 million.
After the trial, Johnny released a statement expressing relief and gratitude. He said: “Six years ago, my life, the lives of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and the lives of those who have supported and trusted me were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye.”

Public reaction and Amber’s statement
After the verdict, Johnny’s legal team was greeted by cheers from the media and fans. His lawyer, Ben Chew, expressed pride in ensuring that Johnny’s case was handled fairly. “We are honored to assist Mr. Johnny in securing the justice he has suffered,” Chew said. “Now that the jury has reached a clear verdict, it’s time to move on and look to the future.”
Meanwhile, Amber reacted to the ruling with disappointment, calling it a step backwards for women’s rights. “I am heartbroken that the mountain of evidence is still not enough to counter the disproportionate power, influence, and dominance of my ex-husband,” she said. Amber went on to say: “I’m even more disappointed with what this ruling means for other women. It’s a step backwards.
