YouTube sensation-turned-professional boxer Jake Paul has made a shocking announcement that will leave Mike Tyson fans disappointed. Paul has revealed his plans to step away from the boxing ring after he claims he’ll send Tyson to the canvas.
The High-Stakes Bout
The internet sensation-turned-boxer is gearing up for a blockbuster bout with “Iron Mike” on November 15 in Arlington, Texas. The two are set to duke it out at the AT&T Stadium, with a massive crowd of 90,000 fans expected to be there live, and countless more tuning in via Netflix. This high-stakes fight will be Paul’s 12th venture into the professional boxing world, with his record only blemished by a single defeat to Tommy Fury in February 2023.
Since then, he’s bounced back with four consecutive victories and aims to extend that streak against Tyson, who at 58 years old, returned to the ring in 2020 for an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. However, the 27-year-old plans to make his followers pine for his return to the sport, as he’s eyeing a break following his clash with the former undisputed heavyweight champion.
Tyson’s Rematch Hint
“I feel like I’m gonna take a little break. I’m gonna pull an Adin Ross and just disappear, man. I’m just gonna go off-grid. I’m gonna keep fighting for sure. But I think my plan is to just get through November 15, have the best performance possible, knock Mike Tyson out and then just see how I’m feeling based off of that.” Tyson stirred up the hype for a potential rematch during his visit to the podcast “Impulsive” by saying: “This is what’s gonna happen, to make everything short. Two men are gonna fight, someone’s gonna win, they may fight again, and then they go to their separate banks and life goes on.”
Paul, confident in his abilities, claimed victory over Tyson, who bowed out of professional boxing in 2005, by stating: “One shot could change the whole entire fight. At the end of the day there’s always going to be critics no matter what you do. That’s the nature of humanity… you can never satisfy people so I don’t waste my energy trying to do that. I’m just doing what I think is cool and that’s fighting Mike Tyson.”
During an August confrontation, Paul further proclaimed: “You’re going to see on his record; Jake Paul KOs Mike Tyson. I’m not here to do, except make a bag. Every time fighters sit across from me and it’s ‘YouTuber this and Disney kid that’ and they end up on the canvas… this is going to be no different.” Showcasing his business acumen, the 27-year-old added: “I brought this deal to this old, we signed the contract with Netflix and we brought him the deal. You’re welcome, my son.”
