Humanoid robot serving at a coffee shop – Trendy robot in Kenya
In the heart of Nairobi, Kenya, a coffee shop has become a new attraction for locals thanks to its innovative use of humanoid robots as waiters instead of staff. This unique dining experience is attracting curious customers who want to witness the robotic technology in action.
Caroline Jedida, a college student, chose to visit the Robot Café to see firsthand the novelty of robot employees. She was delighted to see the humanoid robot glide smoothly between tables, carrying trays to deliver freshly baked cakes to customers.
“This is my first time here,” Caroline Jedida said. “Being served by a robot is quite interesting. I’m not sure if this is common in most hotels in Kenya so I came here to experience it and I can say that the robot service is quite effective.”
Although robot staff have been a regular sight in many Asian restaurants for years, it remains a pending project in Nairobi, often considered Kenya’s tech hub. The cafe’s founder, Mohammed Abass, was inspired by similar dishes he encountered during his travels across Asia and wanted to bring this innovative experience to Nairobi.
Despite its advanced technology, Mohammed Abass’s cafe still relies on human intervention for tasks such as taking orders via tablet and clearing tables.
Robot Café represents a fusion of technology and tradition, demonstrating Nairobi’s growing reputation as a hub of technological innovation while still recognizing the importance of the human touch. As more and more locals and tourists flock to experience the robot service, this cafe is creating a new trend in Kenya’s hospitality industry.
Coming and experiencing the robot service is also quite interesting. This is the result of scientists wishing to reduce human work and want people to rest more. Hopefully in the near future there will be many practical inventions to serve human life more.
