Daily listeners for “Apartment” surged by 122% on MelOn compared to the previous day, October 17. Similarly, streaming on another music platform, Genie, saw a 190% increase in the week following the release of “APT.”
“Apartment” has long been regarded as a “national folk song” since its debut in 1982, remaining popular in sports events like football and basketball games. The song has been covered by various artists, including Kim Gun Mo and DJ DOC, with a recent cover by Lim Young Woong at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul. Additionally, several remix videos featuring “Apartment” and “APT.” have started to appear on YouTube, generating significant excitement on social media and online communities.
Yoon Soo Il expressed his joy during a call on MBC Standard FM’s Trot Radio with Son Tae Jin on October 23. He praised Rosé and Bruno Mars, stating, “It’s amazing that their song is attracting attention while sharing the same theme of ‘apartment’ globally.
