Elon Musk bought a $35 million property for his two ex-partners and 11 children to live together.
According to the NY Post, the 50-year-old billionaire secretly purchased a compound in Austin, Texas, comprising a 1,300-square-meter Tuscan-style mansion and a 6-bedroom villa just behind it. Additionally, Musk acquired another nearby property within walking distance of the other two.
Reportedly, Musk, known for his desire to maintain privacy, requested that real estate agents keep the transaction confidential and offered to pay a premium—up to 70% over market price.
The compound, surrounded by greenery, is intended for Musk’s 11 children and two of their mothers to live together. However, so far, only one of the two women has agreed to move in. Shivon Zilis, Neuralink’s executive director and mother of Musk’s three children, conceived via IVF, has relocated to the property. Meanwhile, Canadian musician Grimes, mother of three of Musk’s children, and Justine Musk, his first wife and mother of five, are not living in the complex.
In the past, Musk has publicly advocated for larger families to counter population decline. According to The Times, Musk has even offered sperm donations to friends and acquaintances to support his pro-family stance. This reportedly included an offer to Nicole Shanahan, the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, which Shanahan declined.
Musk shares three children with Grimes. In summer 2023, he and Grimes briefly lived in a 641-square-meter house in Austin, during which they welcomed their third child via surrogate. Justine Musk, his first wife, has five children with Musk. Both Grimes and Justine are yet to move into the new compound.
Musk’s vision includes creating a private complex where his 11 children can live together. However, Grimes reportedly felt upset over Musk’s relationship with Zilis, particularly when she found out he had donated sperm to Zilis without her knowledge while they were expecting their second child together. Zilis gave birth to twins in late 2021, just weeks before Grimes’s daughter was born, as detailed in Musk’s biography by author Walter Isaacson. Grimes has since filed for custody.
Elon Musk, Grimes, Justine Musk, and Zilis have yet to comment on these reports.
