Named the hotel room with the “best view in the world,” the Adlerhorst attracts visitors not only for its stunning beauty but also for its uniqueness. With its prime location and breathtaking views, visitors who want to experience a vacation at the Adlerhorst often have to book in advance and wait one to two years. The popularity and rarity of this room make it a dream destination for those who crave a luxurious and unforgettable vacation, where every moment is surrounded by the beauty of nature.
According to Condé Nast Traveler, the Adlerhorst is a legendary room in the Dolomitenhütte hotel, located on a soaring cliff. From this position, visitors can look down into the abyss covered in pure white snow, while the distant mountains stretch out under a thick layer of snowflakes, creating an enchanting winter scene. Adlerhorst is not only famous for its unique location but also for its desirable scarcity, with a waiting list that lasts for years.
It is the combination of majestic natural beauty and the rarity of the room that makes Adlerhorst one of the most attractive destinations for those who love unique experiences.
However, the price to be present at this famous “check-in” spot on the internet is extremely affordable. According to Tripadvisor, Adlerhorst costs 85 USD a night, including breakfast with many options such as fruit, cereal, and pastries.
The highlight of the room is the large bed with pure white mattress placed next to the floor-to-ceiling glass window, giving visitors a panoramic view of the outside.
“This is definitely the most romantic hotel room I’ve ever stayed in,” commented German travel blogger Dzenisa Forlano during her trip to Lienz Dolomites, Austria, in late December 2023.
However, the only downside to the Adlerhorst is that there is no private bathroom. Despite having to share the bathroom, many guests still expressed satisfaction because “everything is clean”.
Opened in 2012, the Dolomitenhütte is one of the few hotels in Austria built entirely of pine wood right on a rocky outcrop at an altitude of 1,616m.
The hotel has a large lobby with a fireplace, two terraces and a restaurant serving traditional dishes and local specialties. Guests can enjoy specialties such as schnitzel (fried veal), goulash (beef stew) and kaiserschmarrn (thin pancakes) in a warm and friendly setting.
In winter, visitors can use a toboggan to go down from the room to the hotel lobby. When going up, people are encouraged to walk to admire the natural landscape that is likened to “a fairy tale”.
Visitors to this resort can also participate in many experiential activities such as mountain climbing, playing outdoor sports, hiking, and mountain biking.
In summer, the terraces of the cliff-top rooms are filled with sunlight and “offer beautiful sunsets”.
