Discover the Beautiful Zao Kitsune Fox Village in the Snow
Zao Kitsune Village, also known as Zao Fox Village, located near Shiraishi City in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, is an attractive destination for those who love to explore wild animals. Built in 1990, Zao Kitsune is not only a place to preserve foxes but also one of the famous tourist destinations in Japan. 1. Getting to the Fox Village: From Tokyo, you can take the Shinkansen to Shiroishi-Zao Station, which takes about two hours. Then, take a bus for about 30 minutes to Zao Kitsune. The bus fare is 800 yen, and the entrance fee is 1,000 yen for adults, free for children under 12.
2. Exploring the Areas: The fox village is divided into several areas, each offering different experiences. The first area is where new foxes are raised, the second area is where foxes are let loose in the snow, and the third area is the Inari Shrine with two guardian fox statues.
3. Notes When Visiting: Winter is a great time to take beautiful photos against the white snow. To move easily and avoid stepping on fox waste, visitors should bring hiking boots. In addition, please follow safety regulations, do not do anything that might frighten the foxes, and ask for help from staff if necessary.
Zao Kitsune Village is open all year round, with operating hours from 9am to 5pm from March 16 to November 30, and from 9am to 4pm from December 1 to March 15.
