Sung Sot Cave, also known as Sung Sot Cave, is located on Bo Hon Island in the center of Ha Long Bay, and was named “Grotte des surprises” (cave of wonders) by the French because of its magic.
Considered one of the largest and most beautiful caves in Ha Long Bay, Sung Sot Cave has an area of up to 10,000 m² with a length of more than 200 m, a maximum width of 80 m and a distance from the floor to the ceiling of up to 20 m. The cave is divided into two main compartments, each compartment offers majestic landscapes with thousands of stalactites and stalagmites, creating a magical space that captivates people’s hearts.
Located in the central area of the World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, Sung Sot Cave is not only famous for its breathtaking beauty but also one of the karst caves with high scientific value. Discovered in 1901, this cave quickly became a must-see destination for tourists who love the mystery and majesty of nature.
The cave is towering with countless cracks and fissures, evidence of millions of years of amazing creation by Mother Nature. The light reflected from the water on the cave walls creates magical sparkling rays of light that take visitors from one surprise to another.

The cave has many compartments with an open and closed structure. After each narrow passage, the space is expanded, the deeper into the compartment, the larger the area and the more impressive the scenery, making visitors feel like they are lost in a fairy world with countless sparkling stalactites.
The path leading to Sung Sot Cave winds under the forest canopy, conquering visitors with its steep and winding stone steps. When you reach the cave entrance, you will be overwhelmed by the majestic beauty of the first main compartment, which is like a large, spacious theater, with the cave ceiling decorated with sparkling stalactites and strange shapes such as stone statues, stone elephants, seals, raspberries, flowers and leaves, opening up a world like in a fairy tale. Compartment 2, separated from compartment 1 by a narrow passage, offers a completely different experience.

Entering, you will discover a large space, which can accommodate thousands of people, with images associated with the legend of Thanh Giong (a Vietnamese legend). Next to the entrance is a stone block shaped like a horse and a long sword, while small ponds inside like the footprints of Giong’s horse create a scene that is both mysterious and majestic.
