Sean “Diddy” Combs faces a serious lawsuit accusing him of rape and death threats against a 19-year-old college student. According to court documents filed on October 23, Jane Doe alleges that in 2004, while attending college in Brooklyn, she and her roommate were invited to a photo shoot with Diddy, 55. Us Weekly reported on October 24 that Doe felt “flattered and excited” by the invitation from someone of Diddy’s celebrity status. The case, led by attorney Tony Buzbee, alleges that after the shoot featuring Da Band (signed to Diddy’s label, Bad Boy Entertainment), the two students were invited to an afterparty and later to an “exclusive” gathering at Diddy’s hotel suite.
Doe recounts that upon arrival at the Marriott in Manhattan, where Diddy’s entourage escorted them, she and her friend were separated from the main party and led to a private room. When questioned, an escort allegedly said, “You know what you are here for,” before locking them in the room with Diddy, who allegedly insisted they do cocaine and drink further.
The lawsuit, Diddy’s behavior allegedly escalated aggressively, and he began touching the women without consent. When they resisted, Diddy allegedly ordered Doe’s friend to perform oral sex “under the threat of death.” Despite Doe’s pleas to leave, Diddy allegedly forced Doe to undress under threats of violence and ultimately sexually assaulted her while she begged him to stop. Court documents detail that a security guard later entered the room, providing Doe’s friend an opportunity to flee, but Doe reported being immobilized while Diddy continued the assault.
Once Diddy exited to speak with the security guard, Doe was allegedly threatened with death if she attempted to leave. After a 30-minute wait in isolation, another security guard eventually allowed her to leave, and she returned to her dorm in Brooklyn. In response, a spokesperson for Diddy dismissed the lawsuit as a “publicity stunt,” claiming the attorney involved seeks media attention rather than truth. They assert Diddy’s confidence in the judicial process, insisting he has “never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone.”
Doe is seeking compensatory damages for physical and emotional injuries, as well as punitive damages. Her case is one of five recent civil suits filed by Buzbee in the Southern District of New York, detailing separate alleged incidents of sexual assault involving Diddy from 2000 to 2002, as reported by NBC News.
