‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Surpasses $1 Billion
“Deadpool & Wolverine,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has exceeded $1 billion at the box office just three weeks after its release.
According to Variety on August 11, the film has earned $494.3 million in North America and $535.1 million internationally. It is the second film of the year to surpass the $1 billion mark, following the animated hit “Inside Out 2” ($1.558 billion). Industry experts predict that with its current growth trajectory, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is poised to surpass “Joker” (2019) to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
ScreenRant attributes the film’s success to the dynamic duo of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who reprise their iconic roles. The star-studded cast, featuring Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, and Wesley Snipes, has also added to the film’s appeal.
Directed by Shawn Levy, the film picks up after the events of the previous installment, with Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) seeking a normal life with his loved ones. However, when the Time Variance Authority (TVA) abducts Deadpool and introduces him into the MCU, he teams up with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to combat a new evil force. The film has received widespread acclaim from film critics, being hailed as a “turning point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
