The 76th Emmy Awards are set to be a family affair with the announcement that Eugene and Dan Levy will be the hosts for this year’s ceremony. The father-and-son duo, renowned for their roles in the Emmy-winning sitcom “Schitt’s Creek,” are bringing their comedic flair to the prestigious awards show.
In a joint statement, Eugene and Dan Levy expressed their excitement about hosting the event. “For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” they said. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on September 15.”
Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, praised the Levys for their hosting abilities. “Eugene’s and Dan’s comedic intuition and uncanny ability to capture the hearts of viewers will make for a memorable Emmys telecast honoring this year’s best and brightest,” he said.
The Levys will follow a lineup of recent hosts including Anthony Anderson, Kenan Thompson, and Cedric the Entertainer. Their hosting gig marks a continuation of the Emmys’ tradition of celebrating comedic talent.
Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego also shared his enthusiasm for the Levys’ involvement. “We are thrilled to welcome two generations of comedy genius to the Emmy’s stage as hosts,” Abrego said. “Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they are super-charged. I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”
The 76th Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 15 and will be broadcast live on ABC. For those who miss the live event, the ceremony will be available for streaming the next day on Hulu.
As fans eagerly await the event, the Levys’ hosting promises to add a special touch to the celebration of television’s finest achievements.
