Cristiano Ronaldo’s YouTube Channel Sets Guinness World Record
Cristiano Ronaldo has added another accolade to his impressive list of achievements, as his YouTube channel, UR·Cristiano, was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the channel with the most subscribers gained within 24 hours.
On August 27, the Guinness World Records website highlighted Ronaldo’s ongoing dominance on social media, announcing that his personal YouTube channel had amassed 19,729,827 subscribers in just one day—a world record.
UR·Cristiano was created on August 7, but the channel was only made public after the first video was posted on August 21. The Portuguese football star cleverly promoted the channel by blending his signature celebration, “Siuuuuu,” with the word “subscriptions,” coining the term “Siuuuuubscriptions.” This strategy paid off, as the channel surpassed 50 million subscribers in less than a week. So far, Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, has uploaded 22 videos, garnering over 280 million views. The most popular video, showcasing his receipt of YouTube’s Gold Play Button, has attracted 45 million views. The Gold Play Button is awarded to channels that surpass one million subscribers.
UR·Cristiano set records for reaching various subscriber milestones, becoming the fastest channel to hit 100,000 subscribers in just 22 minutes, one million subscribers in 47 minutes, and 10 million subscribers in 11 hours and 31 minutes. Previously, the record for the fastest channel to reach 10 million subscribers was held by Hamster Kombat, which achieved the milestone in seven days.
In addition to his YouTube success, Ronaldo holds the Guinness World Record for the most-followed individual on Instagram, with 637 million followers, and he was the first person to reach 500 million followers on the platform in November 2022. His social media influence extends to Facebook, where he has 170 million followers, and X (formerly Twitter), with 112 million followers.
Beyond the digital world, Ronaldo has also made his mark in football, holding multiple Guinness World Records. These include being the highest-scoring male footballer in international matches as of 2021. Ronaldo is also the first player to score 100 goals in the UEFA Champions League, has the most appearances in the UEFA Champions League with 183 matches, and is tied with Lionel Messi for the most hat-tricks in the tournament, with eight. Additionally, he holds the record for the most goals scored in the UEFA European Championship with 14 goals, and he is the first male player to score in five different FIFA World Cups. Ronaldo also holds the record for the longest gap between appearances in the Premier League, spanning 12 years and 118 days.
