The Intercontinental City Where Asia and Europe Meet
Sultan Ahmed Square
“If this world were a country, Istanbul would be its capital,” is the famous comment of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte about this intercontinental city. Istanbul, Türkiye, is truly a must-see destination for those who love to explore and experience culture and history. Summer in Istanbul is the ideal time to explore the city with bright and warm sunlight. In summer, the sun only sets at 9pm, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the city all day long.

When you set foot in Istanbul, you will not need to make a specific plan; just let your curious footsteps guide you through each street and alley. The city’s majestic ancient domes, a legacy of the Ottoman Empire, stand tall like great pages of history, while cobblestone streets lead you to the artist quarter and bustling markets. Under the golden summer sun, every roof and street shines brightly. Lost in the Grand Bazaar, you will find spice markets, exquisite handicrafts, and colorful carpets, along with unique souvenirs. Istanbul is not only a city that connects two continents, but also a place to experience rich culture and history.

Explore the “Kingdom of Cats” in Istanbul: Where Cats Are the Unofficial Governors
In Istanbul, cats are not just ordinary residents; they are considered the unofficial kings of the city. Loved and cared for by the people, Istanbul’s cats, or “kedi,” are provided with food, water, and warm shelter during the cold winters, and cool cardboard mattresses during the hot summers. The love and care for them is palpable, with no signs of fear or distance between humans and cats.
The “Catstanbul” on the streets of Istanbul
These “mini tigers” are everywhere in the city: from restaurants, classrooms, offices, parks, to street corners and windowsills. They come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities, and often enjoy “special” rights like seating and privacy. I often go to cafes, listen to jazz, and enjoy traditional pastries, while cats play with laptop chargers, climb into my lap, and eagerly join in my conversations. With these experiences, perhaps Istanbul truly deserves to be called Catstanbul.
