Charley Hull Eyes Title at Aramco Team Series – Riyadh, Confident Victory is Near
Charley Hull is confident that a long-awaited win is “just around the corner” as she readies for the Aramco Team Series in Riyadh, which airs live on Sky Sports Golf starting Thursday at 10 a.m. The 28-year-old English golfer, currently ranked 15th globally, has not claimed a tournament victory since the Volunteers of America Classic in October 2022. However, Hull has remained competitive, securing six runner-up finishes across the LPGA and Ladies European Tours and recently besting World No. 1 Nelly Korda in the Solheim Cup singles.
Hull’s Determination and Recent Form
Despite dealing with a shoulder injury earlier in the season, Hull appears to be in strong form. After finishing 12th at the Maybank Championship in Thailand, she expressed optimism about her chances in Riyadh, saying, “My injury is fine now… I feel like I’ve had a pretty good season, pretty consistent. I feel like a win is just around the corner.”
Returning to Riyadh: A Promising Venue
Hull has high hopes as she returns to Saudi Arabia, noting that the Aramco Team Series course layout is highly favorable for scoring. “It’s a very scorable golf course. It’s good for confidence because you can make loads of birdies out there,” she explained. Last year, defending champion Alison Lee dominated here with a remarkable 29 under par, an inspiring performance Hull acknowledges and aims to match.
Hull’s Ambitions in Golf
Beyond the Aramco Team Series, Hull is also focused on capturing her first major championship title. Reflecting on her talent and potential, Dame Laura Davies commented to Sky Sports News: “I can’t believe she’s not already [a major champion]. She’s so talented… just needs to win more tournaments and get herself into contention more.“
A Love for Riyadh Both On and Off the Course
Hull enjoys the Riyadh atmosphere both on the course and in the city, noting, “I actually really like the food here a lot as well. I’ve been downtown in Riyadh a few times and it’s really cool. There is lots of stuff to do.”
As Hull tees off this week, fans can expect to see her strive to break her title drought, with confidence that a victory might be near.
