Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and More Alter Cruise Itineraries Due to Hurricane Ernesto
Hurricane Ernesto has prompted major cruise lines like Carnival Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean to adjust their itineraries. The storm brought heavy rain and strong winds to Puerto Rico on Wednesday, causing nearly half the island to lose power and triggering flash flood warnings.
Carnival Cruise Line Adjusts Itineraries
The Carnival Pride, which departed from Baltimore for a Bermuda cruise, rescheduled its visit to the island, arriving on Tuesday and departing on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Carnival Magic skipped its planned stop in San Juan and will make an additional stop in Nassau, Bahamas, on Friday.
A spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Line stated: “The safety of our guests and crew is our top priority. We will continue to monitor the storm and follow guidance from the National Hurricane Center, U.S. Coast Guard, and local port authorities to provide timely updates as more information becomes available.”
Norwegian Cruise Line Reroutes Cruises
Norwegian Cruise Line has rerouted its Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Breakaway ships from Eastern Caribbean itineraries to the Western Caribbean. The new routes include stops in Roatan (Honduras), Costa Maya and Cozumel (Mexico), and Harvest Caye (Belize).
The Norwegian Joy, which set sail from New York to Bermuda, arrived at the island one day earlier than scheduled but will depart a day earlier as well, on Thursday.
Royal Caribbean Alters Stop Order but Avoids Cancellations
Royal Caribbean International has rearranged the order of stops on its Southern Caribbean cruise aboard the Rhapsody of the Seas but has not canceled any ports of call. Additionally, the Symphony of the Seas, which left Bayonne, New Jersey, for an Eastern Caribbean cruise, will visit Nassau instead of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.
