The microphone that Cardi B threw at a concertgoer during her recent performance is now being auctioned to raise money for charity. The microphone, which became infamous after the incident, has reached a bidding price of over $30,100 USD.
Scott Fisher, the owner of The Wave, the audio company that supplied the microphone for Cardi B’s show, confirmed that 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to two charities: Friendship Circle Las Vegas and the Wounded Warrior Project, which supports veterans. Fisher stated that after encouragement from others, he decided to use the viral moment to “do something good.“
In a Facebook post, Fisher explained, “I own the microphone that Cardi B threw at a concertgoer who splashed liquid on her a few days ago. After being urged by others, I’ve decided to auction it with all proceeds going to charity.”
The microphone, identified as a Shure Axient Digital Wireless Microphone, is expected to fetch a substantial amount as the bidding ends on August 8. The auction listing includes details on how the microphone was confirmed to be the one used by Cardi B, as it features a white tape with “Main” written on it, which marked her primary microphone during the show.
Fisher’s team verified with their technicians that the microphone in question was indeed used by Cardi B during her performance. “It was easy to identify because her microphone was labeled ‘Main,’” they added.
The incident occurred on July 29 at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas, when a fan threw a drink at Cardi B during her performance of the hit song “Bodak Yellow.” Visibly shocked, Cardi B retaliated by throwing her microphone into the crowd and shouting at the concertgoer before security stepped in. The video of the altercation quickly went viral, sparking headlines worldwide.
The auction of this now-iconic microphone has not only grabbed attention but is also set to make a positive impact by supporting two notable charitable causes.
