The legal battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie over the Miraval estate in France took a major turn on November 8. Judge Lia Martin of the Los Angeles Superior Court dismissed three objections from Angelina Jolie, allowing Brad Pitt’s claim to the Miraval estate to remain in effect. This is a significant legal victory for Brad Pitt in his ongoing dispute with his ex-wife.
Earlier, Angelina Jolie’s lawyers had filed objections to Brad Pitt’s claim, arguing that she did not violate the agreement regarding the sale of their shares in Miraval to a third party without the other’s consent. This agreement, signed in 2013, was made through their two private companies, Mongo Bongo and Nouvel, to protect each other’s interests in the Miraval estate. However, Angelina Jolie argued that the agreement became invalid after she was forced to sign a confidentiality agreement if she wanted Brad to buy her shares.
Judge Lia Martin ruled that the 2013 agreement remains valid, and Angelina Jolie may have violated the agreement by selling her share of the Miraval estate to the Stoli Group, a Russian billionaire’s company, in 2021 without Brad Pitt’s consent. According to the court’s decision, Jolie has 30 days to respond to the ruling, potentially allowing the case to proceed to trial.
A source close to Brad Pitt stated that this is a significant win for the actor, as it validates his claims and again shows that Angelina Jolie’s statements have no merit. Another source added: “The judge found credibility in Brad’s case, paving the way for the matter to be fairly adjudicated.” Brad Pitt began suing Angelina Jolie in 2022, opposing her sale of the Miraval estate shares without his consent.
Angelina Jolie explained that she had offered to sell her shares to Brad Pitt first, but he declined unless she signed a confidentiality agreement. Jolie claimed that Brad Pitt pressured her to sign the agreement to cover up his alleged abusive behavior toward her and their children. However, Brad Pitt denied all abuse allegations and argued that Jolie had previously asked him to sign a similar agreement in another legal case related to child custody.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt started dating in 2005, married in 2014, and divorced in 2016. They share six children, including three biological and three adopted, who currently live with Angelina Jolie at their $25 million estate in Los Angeles. The Miraval lawsuit is believed to be one of the reasons their children have turned against Brad Pitt, with three of the daughters reportedly distancing themselves from their father.
The ruling from the Los Angeles Court in the lawsuit between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie marks a significant moment in the long-running dispute over the Miraval estate. With the court rejecting Jolie’s objections, Brad Pitt maintains control of the estate, and he hopes the case will continue to progress in his favor in the coming months.
