Billionaire Jeff Bezos and Fiancée Meet Pope Francis
Billionaire Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, met with Pope Francis at the Vatican to discuss environmental issues.
On August 15, Lauren Sanchez shared photos of the meeting on Instagram, writing, “It was an honor for Jeff and me to spend time with His Holiness at his home in the Vatican. His wisdom, warmth, and sense of humor deeply touched our hearts. He reminded us both not to place too much pressure on life, a simple yet powerful piece of advice for maintaining happiness.”
The former American journalist mentioned that the three discussed urgent actions needed to address climate change, a topic they are both passionate about. Currently, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are managing the Bezos Earth Fund, a foundation focused on sustainable environmental initiatives.
“His belief in the mission to seek beauty and meaning in all of the fund’s projects greatly inspired me. I also appreciated his encouragement for priests to read poetry and literature to maintain a connection with the soul,” Sanchez added.
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are currently enjoying an extended vacation in Europe aboard the $485 million superyacht Koru. Paparazzi recently spotted the couple strolling on the island of Sardinia, Italy, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and the singer Katy Perry with her husband last weekend.
Jeff Bezos, born in 1964, is an American media mogul and investor. He gained fame for founding and developing Amazon, initially an online bookstore, into the world’s largest retail empire. Over his 27-year tenure as CEO, Bezos transformed Amazon into a global powerhouse in e-commerce.
After stepping down as Amazon’s CEO in 2021, Bezos shifted his focus to conservation efforts and his space exploration company, Blue Origin. His net worth currently stands at nearly $190 billion, according to Forbes.
Lauren Sanchez, born in 1969, is an American actress, TV host, and film producer. She publicly confirmed her relationship with Jeff Bezos in January 2019, shortly after Bezos announced his divorce from MacKenzie Scott after 25 years of marriage. Around the same time, Sanchez divorced her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell. The couple got engaged in May 2023.
Pope Francis, born in 1936 in Argentina, is the 266th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, which has a history spanning over 2,000 years. He assumed the position in 2013, becoming the first Latin American to hold this significant role.
