Barry Keoghan has expressed admiration for Sabrina Carpenter after the singer received her first Grammy nominations for the 2025 awards. The Dublin actor appeared on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show With Julia Cunningham where he was asked about his thoughts on Carpenter’s Grammy nods, including her Song of the Year nomination for “Please Please Please.”
Keoghan, who starred in the song’s music video, called the news “absolutely fecking brilliant” and added, “I’m really happy for her, obviously. I don’t know anyone who works as hard, I’m in awe watching her work and how committed she is, especially in that music video. She knows the vision she wants.”
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Carpenter shared her gratitude, saying she is “filled with gratitude” and that she has “dreamt about this day my whole life” following the Grammy nominations announcement.
Beyoncé also made headlines, congratulating country music “queen” Linda Martell for her Grammy nomination after dominating the nominations herself. Beyoncé, with 11 nominations for her album Cowboy Carter, acknowledged Martell’s nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance alongside her and Shaboozey for their single “Spaghettii.”
This year, Beyoncé continues to make history, securing the most Grammy wins in a lifetime with 32 awards. However, she has yet to win the prestigious Album of the Year category, even with Cowboy Carter securing nominations for Album of the Year and Best Country Album.
Other big names in this year’s nominations include Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish, each with seven nominations. Taylor Swift and Chappell Roan each earned six nods, with Swift’s album The Tortured Poets Department competing for Album of the Year, and Roan’s album The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess appearing in multiple categories, including Best New Artist.
Raye and Roan will be competing in the Best New Artist category, alongside Carpenter, who is also up for Best New Artist. Raye celebrated her nominations with an emotional post, and Carpenter’s hit single Espresso is also nominated for Record of the Year, while her album Short N’ Sweet received an Album of the Year nomination.
