Angelina Jolie has reaffirmed that being a mother is the central focus of her life, surpassing everything else.
In an interview on Good Morning America, Jolie shared, “My children are my happiness. You can take everything else away from me, and it wouldn’t matter.” To her, motherhood is as crucial as singing was to Maria Callas—the opera artist she portrays in her new film, Maria.
Motherhood: The cornerstone of Angelina Jolie’s life
Angelina Jolie is a mother to six children, including three biological and three adopted: Maddox (23), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). Since her divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016, the children have been living with her.
Not only is Jolie a devoted mother, but she also collaborates with her children in her professional life. During the production of Maria, her eldest sons, Maddox and Pax, worked as assistant directors. Jolie described the experience as “incredible.”
Protecting her children’s privacy
Even as they participate in her work, Jolie emphasizes that her children value their privacy. “The kids are very private, especially Shiloh. They were born into a lack of privacy, so I hope they can have that as they grow older,” she shared.
This need to protect her children is one reason why Jolie took a step back from acting for an extended period, dedicating more time to her family. Her role in Maria marks her return to acting after this hiatus.
A new chapter for Angelina and her children
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in August, Jolie discussed the changes in her family life as her children have grown older and more independent. “This is a new chapter in our lives. I’m so happy to see my kids maturing,” she said, adding that this newfound independence has allowed her to reengage with her career.
Motherhood above all else
Through her recent interviews, Angelina Jolie continues to highlight that motherhood is her greatest priority. It is not just a source of joy but also a driving force in her life and career. By striking a balance between being a mother and an actor, Jolie remains an inspiring figure both on and off the screen.
