Alma Cooper Crowned Miss USA 2024: A Triumph of Intelligence and Grace
Alma Cooper, a 22-year-old military officer representing Michigan, has been crowned Miss USA 2024. The 73rd Miss USA pageant took place on the evening of August 4th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where Cooper emerged victorious.
Cooper, a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and an intelligence officer, graduated in the top 5% of her class at the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in data science at Stanford University, having earned the Knight-Hennessy Scholarship.
During the final round, the top five contestants were asked, “How can we bridge the gap between cultures and promote understanding and respect?”
“As the daughter of an immigrant worker, a proud Afro-Latina woman, and a U.S. Army officer, I am living the American dream. My life and my mother have taught me that circumstances do not define one’s destiny,” Cooper responded.
Cooper also expressed what winning Miss USA means to her: “I will have the opportunity to show that others can achieve what I have. I want to demonstrate that by unlocking your full potential through hard work and dedication, success is attainable for everyone.”
As Miss USA, Cooper will represent the United States at the Miss Universe pageant in November.
