On October 9th (U.S. time), it was confirmed by representatives of the nonprofit organization Feeding America that singer Taylor Swift has donated $5 million to assist those suffering from the devastating impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
“This contribution will help residents rebuild and recover by providing essential food, clean water, and necessary supplies to those affected by these two catastrophic storms,” stated Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America. “Together, we can support families through these difficult times. Thank you, Taylor Swift, for joining us in the fight against hunger and assisting those in need.”
This isn’t the first time Swift has made significant charitable contributions. She has consistently topped the list of celebrity philanthropists over the years.
In 2011, she organized a charity concert that raised $750,000 for victims of tornadoes in the southern United States. In 2016, she donated $1 million to flood victims in Louisiana. Again in 2020, Swift made a similar donation after tornadoes severely impacted the state. “Nashville is my home; many people have lost their homes and belongings, which breaks my heart,” she shared on Instagram at that time, providing a link to a support website to encourage fans to contribute.
In 2023, Swift continued her philanthropic efforts by donating $1 million through the Tennessee Emergency Relief Fund following a devastating storm in the region. During her Eras Tour, she also contributed financially to various venues.
At her concerts in Detroit in June 2023, she partnered with Gleaners Community Food Bank in Eastern Michigan, providing food assistance to those in need. “No matter what happens in life, treat people kindly,” she remarked.
Just days ago, Swift officially surpassed Rihanna to become the richest female singer in the world, with an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion
Previously, her Eras Tour had catapulted her into billionaire status in 2023. Her wealth includes $600 million from music revenue and royalties, another $600 million from her re-released albums labeled Taylor’s Version in 2021, and approximately $125 million from real estate investments.
This year, Swift is expected to earn an additional $1.125 billion from 65 shows across Asia, Europe, and the U.S. During the Eras Tour, total earnings could reach $2.165 billion, according to Pollstar.
