Initially, the couple set the asking price at $68 million, but the house failed to attract buyers. Eventually, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck agreed to sell the property to a couple from New Jersey for $64 million.
A Loss After Renovations and Fees
The sale price was considered a loss, as the couple had spent millions on renovating the mansion shortly after purchasing it. In addition, they had to pay a 5.25% tax and broker fees, cutting into their profits.
However, the couple faced another setback when the buyers pulled out of the escrow contract due to a family member’s death, forcing Lopez and Affleck to restart the sale process. “She chose the house because of its spacious design, with room for the whole family, a gym, a baseball field, office space, and two separate entrances,” a source revealed.
Jennifer Lopez’s Preference for Different Architecture
According to insiders, Jennifer Lopez wasn’t particularly fond of the modern style of the mansion, as she prefers romantic European or Spanish-style architecture. Meanwhile, Ben Affleck moved out of the shared home during the summer and rented a house in Brentwood, California, to be closer to his children. In July, he purchased a bachelor pad in Pacific Palisades.
