Johnny sells paintings for 5 million USD: A journey of creative art
On July 29, Johnny’s artwork sold out within hours, fetching a staggering $5 million. More than 780 prints of four of his original paintings were quickly sold, highlighting the actor’s growing reputation as an artist. Johnny, known for his iconic roles in Hollywood, showcased his artistic talent and attracted a whole new audience.
Lucrative partnership with Castle Fine Art
Johnny has partnered with Castle Fine Art, a prominent London gallery, to sell limited prints of his original works. Each print cost £3,950 ($4,824) and they sold out in record time. In addition to the prints, four original paintings by Johnny were purchased for £14,950 ($18,260) each. Following Johnny’s announcement on Instagram, the showroom’s website crashed due to heavy traffic from eager buyers.
Collection “Friends and Heroes”
Johnny’s collection, titled “Friends & Heroes,” features portraits of some of his personal icons. This includes legendary singer Bob Dylan, glamorous Elizabeth Taylor, musician Keith Richards, and actor Al Pacino. These characters significantly influenced Johnny’s life and career, and his paintings aim to capture their essence. The gallery praised Johnny’s work for its expressive style and free spirit, saying it reflected his passion for art beyond acting.
A lifelong love for art
Before becoming famous in the film industry, Johnny was passionate about painting. He once stated: “I have always used art to express my emotions and portray the people who mean the most to me, like my family, friends, and people I admire.” This passion for art became even more evident during his trials with his ex-wife, actress Amber. In May, while in court, Johnny frequently turned to art as a way to cope with the stress of the proceedings. On the ninth day of the trial, Johnny was discovered painting a portrait of a woman while waiting for the jury. The video of him showing the sketch to his lawyer attracted more than 4 million views on TikTok in just one day.
Post-trial pursuits: music and art
After winning Amber’s defamation lawsuit in June, Johnny turned his focus to his other passions. One of them is his musical collaboration with guitarist Jeff Beck. Together, they made an album titled 18, inspired by the youthful energy they felt while performing. In addition to the two new songs, the album also features several covers of famous classics such as Brian Wilson’s “Caroline, No” and the Velvet Underground’s “Venus in Furs.”
The legal battle is ongoing
Despite Johnny’s artistic success, his legal battle with Amber continues. Both actors have filed an appeal against the court’s ruling in June. Amber was ordered to pay Johnny $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, although the amount was later reduced to $350,000 due to Virginia state law. Meanwhile, Johnny must pay Amber $2 million in damages related to his lawyer’s statement that was deemed defamatory.
On July 21, Amber’s legal team filed a petition asking the court to review the jury’s decision. The next day, Johnny also appealed the $2 million judgment. Although Johnny initially seemed pleased with his legal victory, he chose to take further action after Amber’s legal proceedings to move forward with the case.
Johnny’s success as a painter showed a new side to his creative talent, far removed from the legal battles and fame of Hollywood. His paintings honoring personal heroes captivated art enthusiasts and further cemented his reputation as a versatile artist. With ongoing legal challenges and new artistic projects, Johnny remains a fascinating figure both on and off screen.
