Tom Cruise Marks 10 Years of ‘Edge of Tomorrow’: Showers Emily Blunt with Praise in Heartfelt Tribute!
Tom Cruise marked the 10th anniversary of Edge of Tomorrow by thanking his colleagues, including co-star Emily Blunt, and reflecting on the film’s success.
On June 6, Cruise, now 62, took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the entire team behind Edge of Tomorrow. He extended special thanks to director Doug Liman, screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, Warner Bros., and the production crew. Cruise gave particular praise to Emily Blunt, commending her for her “dedication, humor, and incredible acting talent.” He shared, “It’s been 10 years since the premiere of Edge of Tomorrow. I want to thank Emily Blunt again for being such a great friend and an outstanding actress.”
The actor also paid tribute to the late Bill Paxton, who portrayed Sergeant Farell in the film and passed away in 2017 after heart surgery.
Emily Blunt’s Memories from Filming
Emily Blunt has previously shared stories from behind the scenes of Edge of Tomorrow. During a 2022 SmartLess podcast, Blunt recalled how Tom Cruise encouraged her on set. The actors had to wear nearly 40 kg of armor, which made filming challenging for Blunt. She confessed to Cruise that she wasn’t sure if she could handle it and even cried.
Blunt humorously remembered Cruise’s response: “He just stared at me for a moment and then told me to stop crying.” This interaction helped Blunt regain her composure, and she laughed at Cruise’s well-meaning but direct reaction.
Blunt also shared a near-accident she caused while filming. During a high-speed driving scene, she accidentally crashed the car into a tree because she didn’t brake in time. Cruise, who was in the car with her, kept urging her to slow down, but Blunt didn’t hear him clearly and assumed she knew more about stunt driving than Cruise. “Turns out I didn’t,” she quipped.
‘Edge of Tomorrow’ – A Sci-Fi Masterpiece
Released in 2014, Edge of Tomorrow is a science fiction film set on a future Earth under attack by alien invaders. Tom Cruise plays Lieutenant Colonel Bill Cage, a soldier with no combat experience who is thrown into a deadly battle. After being killed shortly after entering the battlefield, Cage finds himself stuck in a time loop where he dies repeatedly but returns to the previous day each time. Alongside Emily Blunt, who plays warrior Rita Vrataski, Cage learns how to defeat the aliens and save humanity.
According to The Numbers, the film grossed over $350 million worldwide. Its mix of action, sci-fi, and a compelling plot earned Edge of Tomorrow a dedicated fan base.
Tom Cruise: Hollywood’s “Ageless” Star
Born in 1962, Tom Cruise has earned the nickname “Hollywood’s ageless man” due to his seemingly unchanged appearance over the years. Despite his fame, Cruise rarely shares personal details on social media, particularly after his public divorce from Katie Holmes in 2012. According to Forbes, Cruise was the third-highest-paid actor in 2023, demonstrating his enduring success.
Cruise has been married three times. His first wife, Mimi Rogers, was with him from 1987 to 1990. He later married Nicole Kidman in 1990, but the pair divorced in 2001. In 2006, Cruise wed Katie Holmes, 17 years his junior. The couple had a daughter, Suri, now 17. In June 2012, Holmes filed for divorce and won custody of Suri. Reports suggest that Holmes sought to distance Suri from Cruise’s involvement in the Scientology church, which contributed to their split.
