Oh No! “God of Thunder” Chris Hemsworth Missed Out on a Role
Recently, Chris Hemsworth revealed that he worked hard to secure a role in a project directed by Kevin Costner, only to find out that Costner had chosen to play the role himself. The star of “Thor” didn’t disclose the name of the film but described it as an “abstract and interesting… a small story about a man and a woman.”
“There was a movie, a script I read, which I really loved and wanted to be part of. Then, someone told me, ‘Kevin Costner already has that role.’ I was excited to participate in the project he was directing. Just the other day, I spent an hour trying to convince him, but he said, ‘I’ll play this role, kid.’ I didn’t get that part,” Hemsworth shared.
Chris Hemsworth further added that the film project “involves horses” because the character is a “horse trainer,” which was one of the appealing aspects that made him want to be a part of the film. “My wife read the script, and we love horses. We have 10 or 11 horses at home, so she said, ‘You have to take this role,’” Hemsworth recounted.
Costner also commented on declining Hemsworth and said, “It’s a love story, but as long as I’m still young enough to play it, I will. Chris Hemsworth will have to wait his turn. He’s very handsome and very talented. He will have to find his own love story. But I’m glad he likes this film. If there comes a time when I feel I can’t do it anymore, then I’ll reach out to him. He’s definitely one of our great leading men right now.”
Since this mysterious project is classified as “abstract” and described as a “small story,” it may not be part of the four installments that Costner has planned for the upcoming Western epic “Horizon.” The filmmaker has shot two parts of the series, with the first part set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month. Warner Bros. will release the first part in theaters on June 28, followed by the second part on August 16. If these two films prove successful at the box office, Costner’s plan is to continue the Western franchise with two more films.
Costner’s film “Horizon” features an impressive cast, including Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tantanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella Hunt, and Jamie Campbell Bower.
