Tom Cruise’s Heartfelt Generosity: Cakes, Gifts, and Thoughtful Gestures Win Over His Colleagues!
Hollywood icon Tom Cruise, now 62, is not just known for his action-packed films but also for his acts of generosity toward his colleagues. Whether it’s sharing cakes or offering gifts, Cruise has built a reputation for his kindness and thoughtfulness.
Actress Kirsten Dunst, 42, shared that Cruise still sends her a cake every Christmas, nearly 30 years after they worked together on Interview With the Vampire (1994). Dunst’s husband, actor Jesse Plemons—who starred alongside Cruise in American Made (2017)—also receives the same treat. The gift, a $126 coconut cream cake from Doan’s Bakery, has become a delightful holiday tradition.
In fact, Cruise’s generosity extends to many in the entertainment industry. Daily Mail reported that every year, the actor sends cakes to fellow actors, directors, journalists, and film crew members. The recipients often praise the cakes as the “best they’ve ever had.” Actor Tom Hanks even joked that if he were sentenced to death, he’d choose Tom Cruise’s cakes for his final meal.
Cruise’s generosity hit new heights in December 2021, when he arranged for his private jet to deliver 300 cakes to the cast and crew of Mission: Impossible 7. A source told The Sun, “Tom wanted to express his gratitude to everyone who worked on the film, so he chose cakes from his favorite bakery in Los Angeles.”
In a 2020 interview with Yahoo, Eric Doan, the owner of Doan’s Bakery, expressed his gratitude to Cruise for helping the business stay afloat during the pandemic. “We survived the pandemic thanks to Tom’s orders,” said Eric’s son, Karen, who co-manages the bakery.
Besides cakes, Cruise is known for giving unique gifts. According to Daily Mail, he once gifted Dunst a clay pot with a built-in water filtration system. Dakota Fanning shared in an interview with Time that Cruise has sent her a birthday gift every year since she was 11 years old. Simon Pegg, who starred with Cruise in Mission: Impossible 3, revealed that the actor once treated the cast to a shark diving adventure near their film set. “Tom was incredibly generous, always showing his appreciation for everyone’s hard work,” Pegg shared.
Cruise also encourages personal growth among his co-stars. Pom Klementieff, who played an assassin in Mission: Impossible, received skydiving lessons from Cruise as a gift. “He found me an instructor and helped me get certified. We even practiced together,” she said.
Beyond his co-stars, Cruise mentors younger actors. Timothée Chalamet revealed in a 2023 GQ Magazine interview that Cruise sent him a detailed email with advice on training for action scenes and connected him with experts on motorcycle and helicopter stunts after wrapping up Dune 1.
Tom Cruise, born in 1962, is often dubbed “the ageless man” due to his youthful appearance. Despite his fame, Cruise stays away from social media and rarely shares details about his personal life, especially after his high-profile divorce from Katie Holmes in 2012. Forbes ranked him third among the highest-earning Hollywood stars in 2023.
Cruise has had three marriages. He was first married to Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990, followed by a high-profile marriage to Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001. He then married Katie Holmes, 17 years his junior, in 2006, and they have a daughter, Suri, now 17. Their marriage ended in 2012, with Holmes gaining custody of Suri. Reports suggested that the marriage ended due to Cruise’s strong involvement in the Church of Scientology, which Holmes did not want Suri to be influenced by.
