Even though Ariana Grande’s music is adored by millions of fans around the world, it turns out that the pop superstar herself isn’t exactly blasting her own hits in the car. In fact, Ariana recently admitted during the Podcrushed podcast that she avoids some of her own songs like the plague! (Okay, maybe not the plague, but you get the idea.)
“Sometimes I actually enjoy listening to them,” Ariana said, “but let’s be honest, after working on these songs 24/7, it feels like I’ve heard them a thousand times. I get obsessed in a way that’s almost unhealthy. And some songs? Let’s just say they’re a one-way ticket to Nope-ville for me.”
She went on to explain that her relationship with certain tracks changes over time, especially after performing them again and again. What used to be her jam might now be the musical equivalent of that one ex you really don’t want to run into at the grocery store. “There were moments when I loved them, but then… not so much,” Ariana admitted, with a laugh.
And before you go getting all excited about new music from her this year – hold your horses. The 1993-born diva revealed that she’s putting her music on pause for now. No new bops, no fresh beats – nada! Why? Because she’s diving headfirst into her acting career, starting with her starring role as Glinda in the upcoming Wicked movie. That’s right, she’s trading the mic for some magical wands and seriously fabulous shoes.
Fans might be a little heartbroken to hear about the music hiatus (seriously, who doesn’t want more Ariana anthems?), but it’s hard not to be excited about her upcoming Wicked role. With her larger-than-life talent, Ariana is sure to sprinkle some Grande magic on the big screen.
So, while she might not be jamming out to “Thank U, Next” in her downtime, Ariana Grande’s star is far from fading. Her tunes may be taking a little nap, but she’s got plenty of tricks up her sleeve – and we can’t wait to see what she does next!
